Getting Around Town
1. Taxis / Ubers
If you like to Uber, most of the time you can order an Uber.
There are several taxi companies you can book in advance online. Here are two you can trust:
Bonjour Taxi Taxi Coop Montreal
2. Bus / Underground Metro
Montreal’s metro is a fast, clean, and reliable underground system with four colour-coded lines (Green, Orange, Yellow, and Blue) connecting the core of Montreal. Trains run every few minutes from about 5:30 a.m. until 1:00 a.m., making it easy to explore the city without a car. For schedules, visit the STM website, and download the official metro map here.
3. Bixi Bikes
Especially in the summer the bixi bike system is a super way to get around Montreal. It easily replaces a taxi or uber ride and is much less expensive.
🚲 One‑Way (Pay‑as‑you‑go) Pass
Just swipe a credit card at any BIXI station kiosk or use the BIXI app to get a one‑way pass.
There is a $1.50 unlock fee plus $0.20/minute for regular bikes or $0.35/minute for e‑bikes, along with a $100 deposit per bike, released after 10 days
— you can rent up to 4 bikes at a time per card.
4. Car rentals
Car rentals are easy in Montreal, with major companies located right at Montréal–Trudeau International Airport for quick pickup and drop-off. Visitors can also use Communauto, the city’s car-sharing service, but international tourists may need extra verification like an international driver’s permit, so setup is not always instant. For short stays, airport rentals are usually the most convenient option, while Communauto can be a good choice for longer visits.

We would love to say yes, but this Montreal location has at least 1 flight of steep stairs (typical of Montreal urban living) and it is not suitable for severely mobility reduced individuals or anyone in a wheelchair. If someone in your group needs a better access plan concierge finding a nearby option for them.
